wonderland papers

When you think of letterpressed invitations and hand-drawn maps you probably don't think St. Louis is a hub for this sort of great wedding creativity, right? That's where you're wrong.

There are some letterpress and invitation design shops in town that do fantastic work (contact us for recommendations).

And, we also happen to have Laura of Wonderland Papers, who just so happens to specialize in hand-drawn maps. We managed to stumble across her work recently, and could not help but feature some of it to share!

So, we urge you to check out her Etsy shop, her blog and pick her brain if you have a custom request - we know she's up for it!

Another Step Forward

Today marks an important day in our nation's history. For the first time ever, same-sex couples can now legally marry in our nation's capital, Washington, D.C.

Couples are able to apply for their marriage license today, but due to a mandatory 3-day waiting period, cannot legally marry until March 9.

I don't think those couples will mind a 3-day wait - applying for their marriage license is quite momentous enough for one day. And, to make things better, the wording on marriage license applications has been changed to read "Spouse" instead of "Bride" and "Groom." AND, the ending of courthouse marriages will now state "I now pronounce you legally married" instead of "I now pronounce you man a wife." If you want to read more, check out the article on MSNBC.

Steph and I cannot help but be both excited and thrilled to see some change like this happening, and can only hope that more states follow suit.

Happy Wedding Wednesday!

Opting for Something Different

And, I'm not talking about going against tradition. I'm just talking about, doing something different, for the sake of it being memorable and fun. Because, after all, your wedding should be both memorable and fun.

Recently, Stephanie and I coordinated a wedding (which we still need to blog) of a fantastic couple. A couple who really paid attention to the details, and kept their guests in mind. But, much to our surprise, there were a few unexpected (but so worth it) wedding details. One in particular comes to mind, that really struck a chord with me (probably because I'm borrowing this idea for my own wedding).

A nacho cheese fountain. You heard me right. This little beauty was served at cocktail hour with soft pretzels. Best. Idea. Ever. Okay, maybe not ever, but pretty close.
